Ir. Lee Peir Tien obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from University of Technology, Malaysia in 2001. He has been involved in design and construction of various geotechnical specialist works for the past 20 years. He is the Chairman for Geotechnical Engineering Technical Division (GETD) of IEM for Sessions 2017/2018 and 2018/2019.
Ir. Hjh Raftar Binti Mahfar holds a Degree in Civil Engineering from UTM and M.Sc in Civil & Structural Engineering from UKM. Ir. Hjh Raftah has over 30 years’ technical experience in the industry and she is actively involved with IEM as a Corporate Member and IEM’s Professional Engineer Interview.
Ir. Dr. Gue Chang Shin obtained his PhD from University of Cambridge, UK, MSc from Imperial College London and BEng from UTM. He is currently a Partner at G&P Professionals Sdn Bhd in Malaysia. He is also actively involved with IEM since 2013, and is currently the Secretary/Treasurer of the Geotechnical Engineering Technical Division (GETD) of IEM.

Mr. Ang Koh An (MBA 1986, BSc.Civil 1985 University of Kansas), Director of GDS Instruments Sdn Bhd since 1996 providing sales and service support of geotechnical instruments and equipment for laboratory and field testing. Actively promoting and advocating the latest state of the art technologies such as InSar and Fiber Optics which can enhance our fellow engineers' understanding on the behaviour of the geo-structures that are under and post construction.
Ir. Dr. Dominic Ong is as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak and Snr Lecturer / Civil Program Advisor at Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia. He is a Fellow to both The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) and Engineers Australia. He is also the co-Editor-in-Chief of Geotechnical Research, a Q2-ranked journal of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), UK.
Ir. Liew Shaw Shong is a senior director/founder of G&P Geotechnics Sdn Bhd. He has 29 years’ work experience in geotechnical engineering consulting. He is a Fellow Member/past chairman/advisor of the Geotechnical Engineering Technical Division of IEM Malaysia and a Council Member of ACEM.
Ir. Frankie Cheah is currently with the Engineering Division of AECOM majoring in major infrastructure and geotechnical projects. He obtained Msc in geotechnical engineering from NTU Singapore. He is a qualified civil and geotechnical engineer with more than 15 years of experience. His experience covers deep foundation, underground earth retaining structures, for both top down and bottom-up construction within Asia region.
Ir. Dr. Chan Sin Fatt, graduated from the University of Malaya with a 1st Class honours in Civil Engineering and completed his PhD degree in the University of Sheffield, England. He started his career in a British Consulting Firm followed by JKR then as an Assoc. Prof. in the Engineering Faculty, University of Malaya. After that, he became the Deputy Managing Director of a large public-listed engineering company in Southeast Asia for 15 years.
Ir. Som Pong A/L Pichan is a Head of Soil Investigation Division, Geotechnical Engineering Branch, Public Work Department of Malaysia. He obtained Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2000 and M.Sc in Civil Engineering (Geotechnics) from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland in 2012.
Ir. Dr Chan Swee Huat is a Director of Geo-Excel Consultants Sdn. Bhd. He has been involved in design and construction of various geotechnical specialist works for the past 21 years.
Ir. Lo Chong Chiun is a Technical Director of a consulting engineering firm based in Sabah. He has more than 30 years of experience in the design, contract administration and project management of major civil, structural, geotechnical and infrastructure development projects.
Ir. Chow Chee Meng obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from University of Malaya and started his career with G&P Geotechnics, an independent Geotechnical and Geo-Environmental Engineering consulting company before joining Technip, specialising in the Oil & Gas industry. He is currently the Director of G&P Geotechnics after re-joining them. He is also currently serving the Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM) as Investigating Committee Member on Professional Practice (since 2014) and is a member of the Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) for the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, SEGi University (since 2016).
Dato’ Ir. Dr Goh Teik Cheong is a professional engineer registered with BEM, Malaysia, a Professional Interviewer for IEM’s Professional Interview and BEM’s Professional Assessment Examination. Currently, he is the Executive Director with M.E.I. and has over 30 years of experience in industrial, infrastructure, residential and commercial construction projects with the focus on research, project management, civil engineering and geotechnical engineering.
